[gpars-dev] Issues…

Russel Winder-2
Are we going to abandon Codehaus JIRA for issues and switch to issues
for the GitHub project (which is really now the mainline), or stay with
JIRA on Codehaus?

Personally I say switch to GitHub, but…

Do you have any particular issue with JIRA by the way?
JIRA is pretty functional and is one of the things that works well at Codehaus.
So in the spirit of "why fix what ain't broke", there are perhaps other priorities to look into (ie. a release with the remoting :-))

It is more the other way around, GitHub issues may be a bit rubbish but
they do work well with GitHub hosted Git repositories. Although JIRA and
Bamboo can work well with Git, the connectivity to the Codehaus held Git
repositories appears to be missing. Codehaus lost its way with the rise
of Git and Mercurial (and Bazaar) and the demise of Subversion and CVS,
at least in the FOSS arena.

It's bugs with the remoting I need to report. Some may be
blocking :-( (in the release sense not the thread sense :-)

Václav has pushed a 1.3.0-SNAPSHOT somewhere. Hopefully I can remember
where for next week. I have it easy as I compile it myself into my local
Maven cache.

I prefer to stick with codehaus JIRA for now. With the average of around 5 issues reported each year it is not worth the effort to switch.
